Home Win at the 2016 YPU Exhibition

10th May 2016
Saturday 7th May 2016 was the YPU (Yorkshire Photographic Unions) 117th annual exhibition. A special exhibition for me as it was held in Wakefield my hometown and hosted by Wakefield Camera Club my local club.

So after months of planning the annual exhibition, which bring entries from most of the affiliated clubs either in print or digital the 2016 exhibition was opened at the Town Hall by the Bishop of Wakefield.

From the initial 1140 prints and 1449 digital entries just 200 prints and 207 digital images were selected for the exhibition.
Managing a print or digital image acceptance is one of the highlights of the season for many, to gain either a Certificate of Merit or one of Silver Trophy awards is the ultimate gory of the season.

Not a good year for me in the digitals, I failed to achieve an acceptance but that’s how it goes sometimes, I made up for that disappointment with a good day at the office in the print section. Four of my prints were selected for the exhibition one gaining a Certificate of Merit and two awarded Sliver Trophies.

The Challenge Cup for the best monochrome pictorial print

The Challenge Bowl for the best monochrome architecture or General record print

So in my hometown with my local club gaining two of the awards is a bit special even more so with The Challenge Bowl for the best monochrome architecture or General record print as last year this was won by Jack Bunn a member and friend of Wakefield Camera Club who sadly died earlier this year, so me winning it this year he would have been so pleased and the first to congratulate me, this is for you Jack and yes I know you won it first.
