The Art of Building Photography - Highly Commended

19th July 2010
The Art of Building photography competition is an international showcase for the very best digital photography of the built environment. It is open to both professional and amateur photographers.

Run by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the competition celebrates the creativity of the industry, the passion of the people who work within it, and the impact their work has on those who make use of the final construction.

Entrants were encouraged to capture the built environment in a way not seen before, to inspire others and to challenge people’s perceptions. The imagery should be original and thought provoking.

So that was the challenge, I entered the competition for the first time a couple of months back but unfortunately I failed to make it to the short list of the final 12, with over a 1000 plus entries it was always going to be difficult, congratulations to the 12 finalist it is a terrific achievement.

Today though a pleasant surprise as the winner was announced I had an e mail explaining the standard was so high they have awarded 12 images with the “highly commended” accolade which included one of mine The Chair image of Victoria Baths Manchester which is a fantastic result and one I am more than pleased with.
